Most of the time the first every fishing trip people ever go on they usually catch a bluegill. Bluegill are found almost everywhere is freshwater whether that is in a river, laker, or stream. Your first time fishing you probably used a hook and a bobber with a live warm attacked to it and you caught many bluegills. For me when I go fishing for bluegills I use a soft plastic with a small jig. I have found that a yellow, white, or black soft plastic has worked the best for me. When I am using a soft plastic and jig I will swim the bait and jerk it a little to grab the attention of the fish. I prefer using a spinning rod with light weight line. These fish are smaller fish with really small mouths so you have to use a lighter set up with small hooks. You can catch bluegill at all hours of the day but I have found that the best hours for me was around 3:00 pm till around sunset. Bluegill are an easy fish to catch and a fun one to go out for with friends and family of all ages.
